Police discovered in the alleged drug dealer's backyard more than XNUMX cannabis plants, still growing, another adult plant and nearly half a kilo of dry cannabis leaf.

The operation of the GNR Criminal Investigation Center in Tavira targeted a 44-year-old man, now indicted for the crime of drug trafficking.

A search of his home revealed 128 plants with heights between 3 and 17 centimeters, cultivated in the backyard, as well as another one measuring 1,55 meters. In the house, 430 grams of dried leaves and 535 grams of cannabis seeds were stored.

According to the Territorial Command of Faro of the GNR, during 2015 «971 plants of cannabis sativa», only in the Algarve region. Most of them were seized in this operation, in VRSA, and in another that took place on Monday, in São Brás de Alportel, where 695 plants and a «sophisticated laboratory» were discovered.

The detainee, residing in the house where the plantation was detected, will be present today at the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of the Public Ministry of Vila Real de Santo António, for the application of coercive measures.
