GNR drug seizure São Brás de Alportel Dec 2015A man who was involved in drug trafficking, from the house where he lived, located in the Almargens site, in São Brás de Alportel, was arrested this Monday by the GNR.

A search of the suspect's house found large quantities of different types of drugs, including 695 cannabis plants, which were cultivated using a "sophisticated laboratory", of a type "never seen in the Algarve region".

Inside the house, a plantation was discovered with specimens in different stages of maturity and with heights between 5 centimeters and 1,10 meters. The drug was cultivated “in divisions that functioned as a “laboratory/greenhouse”».

The GNR also discovered and seized 'eleven thousand three hundred and ninety-five (11395) individual doses of cocaine, two kilograms four hundred and twenty-seven grams of crushed cannabis heads and leaves, a hallucinogenic mushroom production kit and 8,2 grams of the same mushrooms individually packaged, 6,4 grams of MDMA, three precision scales and thirteen mobile phones'.

«During the action, it was found that these divisions had all the necessary elements for the controlled cultivation of plants, with advanced automated irrigation systems, lighting system consisting of sodium lamps, current transformers, ventilation system with neutralizing filters. odors and extractor, air conditioners, thermostats, timers and a board with notes on the level of PH and electroconductivity, four cannabis seed containers and a large amount of clay for use in plant pots, allowing the cultivation cycle to be maintained these plants throughout the year”, described the GNR.

Taking this into account, the police concluded that the detained man "has a vast knowledge of the design and assembly of makeshift greenhouses, as well as in the collection, drying and preparation of drugs for consumption".
