The possibility of «extending the actions of Sociedade Polis for a while longer» is one of the main themes of the meeting that the Board of Directors of Sociedade Polis Litoral Sudoeste will have tomorrow, December 11, with the Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and Nature Conservation, revealed the mayor of Odemira.

José Alberto Guerreiro added that "the four mayors" of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina (Odemira, Aljezur, Vila do Bispo and Sines) "jointly signed an official letter addressed to the Minister and the Secretary of State, requesting the extension of this intervention for another year”. "The Board of Directors also shares this need" to extend the term of the Polis Litoral Sudoeste, said the mayor of Odemirense.

The meeting with Secretary of State Célia Ramos will also serve to "evaluate what we have gained from these initiatives, take stock of the situation regarding the interventions", added José Alberto Guerreiro, who was speaking during a working visit that the Chamber of Odemira promoted yesterday , to the works carried out by Sociedade Polis, completed and in progress, on the coast of this municipality in Alentejo.

"Only with this joint effort and with this joining of wills will it be possible to develop what is still lacking", stressed the mayor.

João Alves, member of the Board of Directors of Polis Litoral Sudoeste, representing ICNF, and, in practice, number 2 of this Polis Society, also expressed the hope that «the new Government will be able to give more time to complete works in progress and to execute those that are still in the project».

Moreover, he underlined that such a situation will be done "without more expenditure for the State", since the Polis has "funds available for the Alentejo Coast", resulting, for example, from the capital already made by the municipalities.

“We all hope that on Friday we will receive good news from the new tutelage”, admitted João Alves.

Even so, if the Government is not sensitive to the arguments of the mayors and other members of the Board of Directors of Polis Sudoeste, that is, "if the extension does not take place", in the liquidation phase, "there will still be the completion of some works that are taking place, in Zambujeira, in Milfontes, and we will achieve almost 80% of what was planned», revealed the mayor of Odemira.

José Alberto Guerreiro even guaranteed that «the Municipality that invested the most, that devoted the most particular effort to this intervention and that, in the set of what was initially planned, the most will be able to achieve, is Odemira».

"Why? Because he bet with a lot of capital in this society. We have, at this moment, constituted around 3,1 million euros of share capital, but we are aware that, if the remaining actions are carried out, we can reach 5 million euros of share capital," he explained.

"This in a set of activities on the ground that, at the moment, amounts to 10 million euros and which could reach 16 million euros, if the Eco-Ciclovia and the removal of the Mira, in Vila Nova de Milfontes, are implemented," he said. still the mayor.

“Right now, with everything on the ground, we can be satisfied. There was a set of wills, which overcame difficulties, overcame barriers, and which arrived here with the firm determination to make this a coastline of excellence», he concluded.
