In 2016, Sagres will host the Municipality of the Year 2016 Awards Gala, promoted by the UM-Cidades platform. This was the big news that José Mendes, vice-rector of the University of Minho and president of the jury of the UM-Cities, presented at the II Conference of Regional and National Winners held in Braga.
After the award of the 2015 Municipality of the Year Award to Vila do Bispo, those responsible for this organization, for the first time, hold their Gala in the territory of the winning municipality.
A novelty and a challenge that Vilabispense mayor Adelino Soares accepted, saying that for his municipality it will be with “a great honor and pride that Vila de Sagres will host this prestigious Gala”.
Sagres succeeds Guimarães and Braga as the venue for this event.
The municipality of Vila do Bispo, with the Festival of Bird Watching & Nature Activities of Sagres, of which it is co-organiser, was the national winner of the 2015 Municipality of the Year awards, which recognize the good practices of local authorities.
