Eight restaurants, two more than last year, participate, from November 28th to December 6th, in the 10th Gastronomic Week of São Bartolomeu de Messines.
The initiative, promoted by the local Parish Council, has the support of the Municipality of Silves and aims to raise awareness of traditional cuisine and local products.
This edition counts with the participation of the restaurants: Restaurant “João de Deus” (SB Messines), Restaurant “Café Académico” (SB Messines); “O Caixeiro” Restaurant (Fonte João Luís), Pasto House “Odília & Florival” (Foz do Ribeiro), “O Neves” Restaurant (Vale Figueira) “O Gralha” Restaurant (Vale Fuzeiros), “O Petisco” Restaurant ( Campilhos); Tapas House “Tapas.Com.Vinhos” (SB Messines).
An exhibition of local gastronomy, with confectioners, honey, arbutus and piripiri producers and winegrowers in the region, marks the opening of the event, on November 28, at the multipurpose hall of the Casa do Povo in Messines.
On this day, at 9:00 am, the Messines market will stage a showcooking and a culinary decoration demonstration.
In the afternoon, there will be open cooking classes with regional dishes, promoted by great chefs of the Algarve cuisine, and a wine tasting course at the Casa do Povo in Messines.
Also on this day, and at the end of the afternoon, the participating restaurants will streamline the time for a snack and dinner with their most emblematic dishes.
In terms of entertainment, the offer will be diversified and will be in charge of some local artists, including poetry, fado, popular music.
In addition to the Municipality of Silves, the Algarve Tourism Region, the Hotel and Tourism School of Portimão, the Casa do Povo of Messines, the Algarve Wine Route, the Association of Cooks and Confectioners of the Algarve and the Confraternity are supporting this event. of the Enophiles and Gastronomy of the Algarve.
The 10th Gastronomic Week of Messines is also sponsored by various local merchants, associations and entities.
