Boogie Head Rush 2.0 Festival - 2 - Skydive AlgarveThe 34-year-old Indian parachutist, who suffered an accident yesterday when he failed to land at the Portimão Aerodrome, during the international parachuting festival Autumn Boogie 2015, ended up dying in hospital this Sunday night.

A source at the Algarve Hospital Center communication office said that the man was admitted to the hospital in Portimão on Sunday afternoon, "with serious injuries", having ended up "by dying in the hospital" last night.

The firefighters' source said that the parachutist “was about to land, when he crashed violently into a wall, perhaps pushed by a gust of wind.

The man suffered "serious injuries" and went into "cardiorespiratory arrest", having been assisted on the spot by an INEM team, which "managed to revive and stabilize him" until he arrived at the hospital in Portimão, where he would eventually die .

This is the third accident, with fatalities, registered only in the last two years, at the Municipal Aerodrome of Portimão. In October 2013, a 32 year old girl, a native of Abrantes, died after an alleged damage to her parachute that caused her to fall to the ground. The young woman participated in the same Autumn Boogie festival.

In March of last year, a 40-year-old German paratrooper died and another was seriously injured in two separate accidents, but which occurred almost at the same time, at the Municipal Aerodrome of Portimão. Both participated in the Spring Boogie festival.

Yesterday's accident is now being investigated by the competent authorities.

The international parachuting festival Autumn Boogie 2015 attracts 300 skydivers from all over the world to Portimão and ends next Sunday, October 16th.
