Thousands of Scots will flock to the Algarve this weekend, to watch the 2016 European qualifier between Gibraltar and Scotland, and Faro will be prepared to receive them.
The Manuel Bívar Garden is once again transformed into a Fan zone, tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, to provide entertainment, food and drink for fans who want to have fun before and after the game, which will be played on the 11th, at the Estádio Algarve.
This is an initiative of the supporters of Farense and of the Scottish national team, the South Side Boys and the association Tartan Army, respectively, and of the Chamber of Faro. According to the organizers, at Scottish Fan Fest there will be no shortage of "music, beer outlets, food and beverage areas", on Saturday, between 15 pm and 2 am, and on Sunday, from 13 pm to 20:30 pm. Entry to the event is free.
The party, this one, will be brought by Scottish fans, who are known for cheering and “painting” in blue and white, the colors of their flag, the places they pass through.
In August, when tickets started to sell, it was expected that 20 thousand Scots travel to the Algarve, to see this game, according to the newspaper The Scotsman. Meanwhile, Scotland saw its chances of qualifying failed, after drawing at home with Poland, 2nd in Group D, this Thursday. However, the Scots are known to support their team through good times and bad.
What is certain is that the first 7 tickets made available “flew”, which guarantees, from the start, a good turnout for the game, by the supporters of Scotland.
The Estádio Algarve was chosen by the Gibraltar team as their home, which has already provided the arrival of top teams to the region. So far, the game in Gibraltar at Estádio Algarve with the most fans happened when world champion Germany faced the bottom of group D. In that match, played on June 13 this year, 7467 people watched the German victory by 0-7 .
