José ApolinarioSatisfied that the PS “has doubled the number of deputies”, but sad for António Costa and for the fact that his party “did not manage to get the message across” and win the elections, at national level.

The PS head of list for the Algarve circle José Apolinário assured the Sul Informação that he is aware of the "responsibility that the Algarve has placed in the PS", the most voted force and the most parliamentarians elected in the region, and assures that they will "fight every day for the commitments that we assume".

The PS guaranteed 32,77 percent of the vote, which guaranteed the election of four deputies among the 9 that the Algarve elects.

“The Algarve needs the region's interests to be defended in Parliament and the Government. We will fight around the region every day», he assured.

Despite the victory of the PS at the regional level, José Apolinário confesses “to be with a feeling of sadness” for the overall result of the PS. “I'm sad, because I consider António Costa to be the best prepared political cadre of my generation. He has enormous qualities as a politician and as a person. I'm sorry that we weren't able to get our message across,” he considered.

As for the future, he admits that “there will have to be an internal reflection on the results of the elections”, but he does not speak of António Costa's resignation. Even because, he considered, the PS "bears enormous responsibilities if the coalition Portugal to the Front does not have an absolute majority, as everything indicates."

The PS elected 4 of the 9 deputies of the Algarve: José Apolinário, António Eusébio, Jamila Madeira, Luis Graça (PS).
