The Municipality of Albufeira will finance the Association of the Conservatory of Albufeira in 30 thousand euros, as a way to support the students who attend the Association's music and dance schools. The collaboration protocol was signed last Tuesday.
The Albufeira Conservatory currently has 357 students in the Children's Choir, Vox Albuhera Choir, Santa Casa da Misericórdia Choir, Singing and Movement Group of the Alemã School of Algarve, Traditional Group, Accordion Orchestra, String Orchestra, Flute Ensemble, Orff Orchestra, Guitar Orchestra and Ballet.
The institution also teaches to play various instruments such as the accordion, piano, violin or classical guitar.
Operating since 1996, the Albufeirense Conservatory «has pedagogical parallelism for the Basic Courses, granted by the Ministry of Education, with which it has signed a sponsorship contract».
This entity also collaborates with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Albufeira, the Parish Center of Paderne, the German School and various tourist developments through the realization of shows, choral groups for the elderly and teaching children.
«The work carried out by this association in cultural training, especially of the youngest, deserves our support and recognition», considered the mayor of Albufeira Carlos Silva e Sousa.
In a press release, the municipality of Albufeirense highlighted that «the Youth Choir has already recorded a CD (2000), traveled to France (2002) and Germany (2004) to present their work, and collaborated with Orquestra do Algarve and Orquestra da Espinho Professional Music School».
