poetryOn the 25th of September, the João de Deus House-Museum promotes various initiatives, as part of the TEIA – V Bienal de Poesia Concelho de Silves.

Poetry will bring to this local authority space, located in São Bartolomeu de Messines, and to the Secondary School of Silves, literary critics, poets and writers, for various meetings.

The exchange of views and discussion around the theme “The Poetic Social: quality versus equality” will take the participants on a journey to analyze the effects promoted by globalization and the constant increase of new texts and new authors in the poetic-literary production market.

Questions such as “should everything be edited or will everything be editable?”, “Where is the production located and where is the criticism located?” and the “different perspectives of the Poet and the critic” will be the motto for the exchange of ideas.

This debate will take place on September 25, at 10 am, at the Escola Secundária de Silves and will be attended by poets and literary critics António Carlos Cortez, Casimiro de Brito, Cecília Barreira, João Rasteiro, and Maria João Cantinho.

In the afternoon, at 14:30 pm, there will be a moment of tribute to the poet Manuel Madeira, with the projection of a film about this author, directed by Adão Contreiras.

The reading of poems by Adília César and the presence and analysis of the theme “The poet of the Infinite Word” by Carminda Fiadeiro, Lisete Martins, Maria Luísa Francisco, Fernando Esteves Pinto and Adão Contreiras will close the activities at that school.

The day will end at the Casa-Museum João de Deus, in Messines, at 21 pm, with an action entitled “Incomplete Symphonies”, in which the poets and literary critics António Carlos Cortez, Casimiro de Brito, Cecília Barreira, João Rasteiro and Maria will participate João Cantinho and which will be open to the general public.
