Parque Escolar announced today the completion of the works of the Secondary Schools in Silves and Loulé, allowing the school community to fully use the remodeled facilities at the beginning of the school year.

Both schools have been operating for about five years in containers and other temporary facilities, due to the delay in the interventions being carried out in the teaching establishments, under the responsibility of the company Parque Escolar.

The situation worsened when the current Government took office and suspended the works in progress. Both those of Silves Secondary School, like those of Loulé, have been out of action for over a year.

The Secondary School of Silves was initially built in 1959, belongs to the MOP typology, Technical Industrial and Commercial School, and accompanied the construction of new establishments in the district capitals, creating a network of high school buildings with an easily recognizable typological image and configuration in the territory .

The project included a set of four new buildings juxtaposed to the existing one, assuming a new entrance and respective entrance and multipurpose room.

After requalification, the School's capacity is 39 classes and about 825 students.

Loulé Secondary School was built in 1976 and corresponds to a technically based school in pavilions. The expected capacity was 72 classes and 1.640 students.

The structural reinforcement of the existing parts and the construction of four new buildings stand out.

The spaces were distributed taking into account their use by people outside the School. Thus, the social areas, accessible to the public, were generally located on the ground floor, and the work areas were located on the upper floor.

In addition to these two schools, Parque Escolar has reclassified, to date, five schools in the district of Faro: Tomás Cabreira Secondary School, in Faro, Júlio Dantas Secondary School, in Lagos, Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes Secondary School, in Olhão, Poeta António Aleixo Secondary School, in Portimão, and Vila Real de Santo António Secondary School.

By the end of the year, the company plans to provide the school community with João de Deus Secondary SchoolOn Faro.
