NU4A0573 [800x600]Leaders Laurens Vanthoor and Robin Frijns (Belgium Audi Club Team WRT) secured victory in the main race of the Algarve round of the Blancpain Sprint Series. This was the third race won by the Belgian-Dutch duo this season.

In 2nd place was the duo Markus Winkelhock and Niki Mayr-Melnhof, obtaining, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, their best result since the beginning of their collaboration in the Blancpain Sprint Series, while Marco Seefried and Norbert Siedler (Ferrari) managed to pass to ahead of Bentley Team HTP Continental, to finish 3rd.

Bentley led during the first half of the race, but an intervention from the safety car closed the field and after a pit stop confused, Bentley dropped to 4th.

With the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve full of sunshine, and after the thrilling finale of the qualifying race on Saturday, expectations were high for Sunday's main race, and fans were not disappointed.

In the end, Laurens Vanthoor ((#1 Audi Sport Team WRT Audi) commented: "A very large part of this victory is due to the team. Yesterday I wasn't very happy with my performance, but together we managed to improve it today [Sunday ]'.

For his part, Marco Seefried (#333 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari) said his car was "very difficult to drive this weekend, I don't think we've had so much trouble". “The team did an excellent job, fine-tuning the set-up. They turned the car upside down to find a solution and it worked. We are now very much looking forward to the next round at Misano, in Ferrari's home country,” he added.
