This year's theme of the European Mobility Week highlights multimodality and “encourages people to reflect on the variety of means of transport available and the best way to combine with each other, in a journey that can become faster and more pleasant. ».

“By choosing them intelligently we can save money, improve our health and help the environment”, adds the Portuguese Environment Agency.

The Portuguese Environment Agency, which is responsible for the promotion and national technical coordination of the campaign, presents here the list of municipalities participating in the European Mobility Week, and in Alentejo, Mértola, Aljustrel and Sines are some of the municipalities with initiatives in this area.

 

Faro:

Em Faro, motorized traffic will be banned at Largo Afonso III – Vila Adentro, between 10:00 and 12:30, and the historic center will be reserved for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Loulé:

In Loulé, during the European Mobility Week, environmental awareness leaflets "subject to Sustainable Mobility and the theme of SEM 2015 are being distributed, in which vouchers are incorporated with offers promoting the different means of transportation that the citizen has at his disposal. disposition".

In schools, the CycleBus project is being presented, an ongoing environmental education project, which «has the objective of promoting sustainable mobility, especially cycling, instilling healthier and more environmentally balanced travel habits in younger people, raising awareness of issues prevention and contribute to the reduction of road traffic'.

On September 22, European Car Free Day, as part of an initiative of the “Give Color to the City” Project, in the Santa Luzia district, in Loulé, a graffiti painting workshop will take place as part of the 2015 European Mobility Week and sustainable mobility, promoted in collaboration with Associação Artística Satori and aimed at younger audiences, according to the Municipality of Loulé.

On this day, Praça da República will be closed to motorized traffic between 9:00 am and 17:00 pm and various activities are scheduled, especially in the morning, related to sustainable mobility. An inflatable track with pedal carts, availability of bicycles for experimentation or rental, fitness and exercise classes in the open air, GNR Traffic Track – Escola Segura and distribution of environmental awareness material related to sustainable mobility, are some of the initiatives ongoing.

Loulé City Council will also “develop and publish awareness-raising materials on sustainable mobility, through which it will seek to raise awareness of sustainable mobility, promoting the use of more sustainable means of transport, namely “Get in… that I take -te”, slogan that will be placed on urban transport in Loulé and Quarteira and issue 12 of the Sustainable LC Newsletter, subordinated to climate change and the project ClimAdaPT.Local and SEM 2015».

Lagoon:

In Lagoa, actions related to the European Mobility Week are taking place all over the county. In Estômbar and Parchal there were Zumba Festivals, on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, and yesterday, at the end of the day, there were organized walks in various parts of the municipality.

For tomorrow, Sunday, early morning, at 8:30 am, there will be a nature trail, with a meeting point at the Jacinto Correira Municipal Pavilion, in Lagoa, and another, between Cais do Calhau and the Municipal Park of Sítio das Fontes, at 9:00 am. At 19 pm, there is another Zumba Party, in Porches.

On Monday, Ferragudo receives an awareness action during the morning, and an inflatable will be mounted in the churchyard.

On the 22nd, European Car Free Day, Largo da Igreja de Ferragudo will host the Mobility Festival, throughout the day. There will be an exhibition on mobility, awareness-raising actions for traffic and mobility rules and Rua 1º de Maio will be descended by pedal cars, bicycles, electric vehicles and tuk tuk, therefore, with restricted access.

Reservoir:

The city of Albufeira will mark the European Car Free Day with a 6km walk, which will pass through several streets in the city. The initiative is scheduled for 20:30, from the car park, in front of the Paços do Concelho building.

To participate in the initiative, it is necessary to send an application to the Division of Environment, Urban Hygiene and Green Spaces of the Municipality of Albufeira to the following email address: [email protected]. On the day of the test, participants must bring water, comfortable clothes and shoes, and a flashlight.

On this day, the City Council suggests to citizens that they leave their car at home to help improve the air that is breathed in the city.
