IMG_9456The Guia Polisportivo Requalification project was the most voted in the Participatory Budget process launched this year by the Albufeira Chamber.

This intervention received 31 percent of the total votes, followed by the project for Requalification of the recreation area of ​​Escola Basica nº1 in Albufeira, which obtained 22%.

According to the municipality of Albufeira, both projects will be included in the 2016 Municipal Budget, since, together, they do not exceed the amount of 100 euros associated with the Participatory Budget of Albufeira.

In all, 1034 votes were counted, of which 1020 were considered valid. Voting took place between the 21st of May and the 21st of June, with citizens being able to vote in two ways: in person or by telephone.

The most voted project, the Requalification of the Polisportivo da Guia, has an execution cost of 54,5 thousand euros. Rehabilitation of the recreation area of ​​Escola Basica nº1 in Albufeira will cost 40 thousand euros.

For the mayor of Albufeira Carlos Silva e Sousa, this second edition of the PB “was a very positive experience, having approved a project that is extremely important for the municipality and for the parish of Guia in particular”.

“The requalification of the Guia Polisportivo will create new social and cultural aspects, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the citizens”, he considered.

The EB1 requalification project, on the other hand, “is of enormous importance for the children of that educational establishment, who will thus have a more inviting and safer space to carry out their activities”.

“This is proof that the population of Albufeires is attentive, participates and that through this mechanism it can seek to find solutions for some of the needs felt in their day-to-day. Therefore, the OP is an experience to continue”, believes the mayor.
