Spanish jazz musician Javier Alcántara will be in Faro for a Music Therapy Workshop – practices and experience and for a concert. The concert is scheduled for the 27th of July, at Pé-de-Copos, in Largo do Pé da Cruz, at 21 pm. The workshop, on the following day, takes place between 30:18 and 00:21 at Amarelarte.
According to Associação Amarelarte, the workshop «aims to open a space to explore different techniques in Music Therapy, clinical improvisation through music, to increase creativity and expressiveness and collective capacity, providing resources to work in different areas». Music therapy as a tool to improve the management of emotions and moods will also be one of the topics covered.
Javier Alcántara is a musician, guitarist, composer, improviser, teacher, music therapist, researcher, art director and organizer of the Badajoz International Jazz Festival and Badejazz International Seminar. He is also president of AEXMU, Extremadura Association of Music Therapists.
