Evacuation_ship2Two crew members of the French-flagged 'Mara Amu' sailboat, which had a broken mast, without its own means of propulsion and consequently adrift, about 8 nautical miles (near 14 kilometers) west of Arrifana beach, county from Aljezur, were rescued this morning by the EH-101 Helicopter of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP).

The two crew members, coming from the UK and France, both male, with approximately 60 years of age, were then transported to Lisbon airport, finding themselves in good health without the need for medical assistance.

The rescue operation was coordinated by the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon) in conjunction with the FAP and the Captaincy of the Port of Lagos.
