2015 network CCVThe official start of Live Science in the Summer in Network takes place this Wednesday, July 15th. Until yesterday, 11 thousand entries had already been registered in what is the most awaited scientific dissemination program by the Portuguese.

This year's edition is promoted by the National Network of Ciência Viva Centres, in partnership with Ciência Viva, taking advantage of its proximity to the most dynamic local populations and organizations, to consolidate its role in promoting scientific culture in Portuguese society.

Here are some of the activities that the Ciência Viva Centers organize on this day in collaboration with scientific institutions, associations, municipalities and companies:

In Lisbon, the Pavilhão do Conhecimento invites journalists to access the structure of the 25 de Abril Bridge and discover one of the largest engineering works in the country (Limited places. Enrollment at nr. 96 156 09 26. Opening hours: 10.00-12.00. Point meeting at the headquarters of Infraestruturas de Portugal, Pç da Portagem).

The Calouste Gulbenkian Planetarium – Centro Ciência Viva takes the telescopes to Praça do Império, in Belém, and invites locals and tourists to point these instruments towards the Sun with protective filters (hours: 14.00-16.00).

The Sintra Live Science Center and the Sintra Natural History Museum set out to discover the history of life on Earth and species such as Diplodoco, Trilobites, Brontosaurus and T-Rex (time: 10.00).

The Centro Ciência Viva de Tavira, in collaboration with the Portuguese Environment Agency, IP, shows how some species show us the quality of the water on a visit to the sensitive ecosystem of Ribeira do Almargem (time: 09.30-11.00).

O Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos camps at Praça Gil Eanes with the tent “Ciência ao Sul”, that during the summer it will be on 18 beaches in the Algarve and the Alentejo coast with sand volcanoes, scientific ice cream, kite flying and information about the Sun (schedule: all day long).

Still in the south, the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve organizes a visit to the Ramalhete Aquaculture Station, showing the exceptional conditions for the cultivation of aquatic organisms in the Ria Formosa (time: 10.00-11.00).

The Centro Ciência Viva de Estremoz invites you to take a tour of urban geology through the historic center of Évora, from the Roman nucleus to the Jewish quarters and parishes (hours: 09.30-13:30).

The Lousal Ciência Viva Center goes to the baths and chose the scenery of Praia da Comporta to launch the activity “Make Change your Beach” in a tide of scientific discoveries (time: 10.00).

The renovated Porto Planetarium – Centro Ciência Viva, CIBIO-InBIO and the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences organize a session at the Porto Botanical Garden to observe not only stars and planets, but also insects in urban green areas and flowers with night activities (time: 21.00).

The Fábrica – Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro moves to Praia da Barra, in Ílhavo, to reveal the science of making effervescent salts and to give popcorn to taste “cooked with the sun” (hours: 15.00-17.00).

The Centro Ciência Viva de Constância says goodbye to Venus and Jupiter, which within days will no longer be observable at the beginning of the night. Until then, the Center promotes observations of Jupiter's moons and bands and shows Venus in a waning phase (time: 21.30).

The Rómulo – Ciência Viva Center of the University of Coimbra goes to the terrace of the emblematic Café Santa Cruz and promises to surprise the public with solar soaps and an explosion of colors (time: 10.00).

Expolab – Centro Ciência Viva dos Açores and Amigos dos Açores – Associação Ecológica are organizing a speleological visit to the Gruta do Carvão which will reveal the geological richness of this place (time: 20.00).

The Live Science Center of Porto Moniz and the Association of Amateur Astronomers of Madeira point their telescopes to the sky to observe planets, stellar clusters, nebulae and galaxies (time: 21.30 pm).

The Exploratory – Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra, the Surgical Center of Coimbra, the Chemistry Center of the University of Coimbra, the Nuclear Medicine Service, the Psychology Workshop and the Functional Ecology Center present actions in the areas of health and well-being. to be part of Ciência Viva in Summer for the first time (time: 11.00, Centro Cirúrgico de Coimbra).

The Centro Ciência Viva do Alviela monitors the departure of bats from a large maternity shelter to hunt, identifying some of the species in the cave of Lapa da Canada (time: 18 July, 19.30).

The Living Science Center of Vila do Conde and the Fund for the Protection of Wild Animals are present at Praia do Mindelo and reveal to vacationers the curious ways of life that can be found by the sea (time: 20th of July, 09.00).

The Ciência Viva da Floresta Center, in Proença-a-Nova, invites visitors to discover the stars, the waters of the Ocreza River and the species of local ecosystems (from 25 July).

The Ciência Viva Center in Bragança organizes a walking tour along the trails of Rabagão, with its rocky outcrops, groves and great diversity of birds (opening hours: 18 July, 14.00).
