Armação de Pêra will be the capital of the «Caldeirada e do Petisco do Mar», name of the festival that will take place in this locality in the municipality of Silves between 19 and 21 June.
The 17th edition of the event counts with the participation of 13 restaurants, which will promote, according to the Chamber of Silves, «one of the most significant gastronomic cultural brands in this village».
«The stew, an emblematic dish of Armacen gastronomy, and the snacks that originate from the sea will thus be kings in this festival that invites visitors and food lovers to experience the great traditional culinary diversity of Armação de Pêra», describes the municipality, that organizes the event.
The participating establishments are: Restaurant “O Navegante”, Barbecue Balbino, Restaurant Rocha da Palha, Barbecue “O Casarão”, Restaurant “O Fernando”, Restaurant “O Pelintra”, Restaurant “O Serol”, Marisqueira Hera, Restaurant “O Walter ”, Restaurante Estrela do Mar, O Silvense, Restaurante Pôr do Sol and A Tasca.
To make “the experience even more complete”, there will be a passport, which will be given to the public and will enable its holders to win “a weekend (under “Accommodation and Breakfast”) in one of Armação de Pêra's hotel units ».
"Customers who join the festival and choose the fish stew as the main course of their meal will be given a magnet with the Festival's image and a coupon which, once filled in, must be delivered, together with the meal invoice, at the restaurant adherent. The draw will be held on June 30, at 15 pm, at the parish council of Armação de Pêra, with the winners being announced in due course on the Silves Chamber portal and facebook», according to the municipality.
All participants who complete the grids of the passport will also be offered a daily ticket that will give access to the entrance to the Medieval Fair of Silves.
The Municipality of Silves promotes, from June 19th to 21st, in Armação de Pêra, the XVII edition of the Festival da Caldeirada and Petisco do Mar. The initiative counts on the participation of 13 restaurants and intends to promote one of the most significant cultural brands dishes of this village.
In addition to gastronomy, the festival will also have a cultural entertainment aspect, with the performance, in the area of participating restaurants, by the Rancho Folclórico Amigos de Montenegro on Friday, the 19th, from 19:30 pm to 23:30 pm and during the weekend, from 12:30 pm at 15:30 pm and from 19:30 pm to 23:30 pm.
On June 20, there will also be a parade by the Percutunes Percussion Orchestra, between the Holiday Inn and Lota, at 21 pm. The band «Flor de Sal» ends the program, with a performance in the fortress of Armação de Pêra, on Sunday, at 30 pm. Soon after the show, souvenirs will be delivered to all participating restaurants by the Executive Chamber.
