Time will “go back” in São Brás de Alportel, on the 30th and 31st of May, between 18pm and 2am. In these two days, Vila algarvia will go back a hundred years, to recreate the atmosphere experienced at the time, in the initiative «São Braz d'Alportel 1914 – A journey in time».
In this event, another initiative carried out in the context of the centenary of the elevation of São Brás to a county, the streets of the historic center will be decorated and will «gain new colors and smells and receive a flurry of animations and unexpected events, from the street theater to the ballroom. or from the handicraft exhibition to the delicious delicacies of other times».
«São Brás de Alportel will mark 100 years of elevation to council, the establishment of the Republic and a century of progress with a Historical Recreation that is only possible thanks to the involvement and active participation of the entire community that strongly embraced the initiative», he illustrated the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel, in a press release.
To make everything as authentic as possible, there will be 150 costumed extras, as well as around 240 participants in animation and performance. In addition, there will be “dozens of spaces open to the public, to allow visitors to learn more about the stories of the people and buildings of the Historic Center, 12 food and beverage spaces, a children's entertainment space with traditional games of the period, three stages per where countless artists and musicians will pass and many more surprises that will envelop visitors in a typical 1914 atmosphere».
Entrance is free and all visitors are invited to get into the spirit of the party and dress up, so that they too can be part of this historic recreation.
