airport-of-FaroThe telescopic bridges (sleeves) are inoperative at the Airport of Faro from the dismissal of 12 Portway workers, and they will continue to do so until May 18, when new employees, hired by another company, also owned by the Vinci group, come into service.

O Sul Informação knows that this company should be Sotecnica, which until now is only responsible for the maintenance of the sleeves, and that it already has workers in training since this week, to start operating them as well.

Since the end of the contract for the provision of services with Portway, which, according to ANA, was the reason for the dismissal of the 12 workers, passengers started to enter and exit the planes through the stairs, sometimes having to be transported by bus to and from the terminal.

O Sul Informação sought further clarification from ANA Aeroportos, but so far has not received a response.

Dismissal of 12 Portway workers "was wild"

Portway protestMeanwhile, the Union of Aviation and Airport Workers (SITAVA) considers the way in which the 12 workers of Portway were fired "savage" and accuses ANA of having penalized these workers for "fighting for their rights"

According to Armando Costa from SIAVA, who on Wednesday gave a press conference at the Airport of Faro, these workers fought “because the company discriminates against them in relation to other Portway workers. They do not have health insurance, are not entitled to careers and do not have the same workload. Instead of 36 hours, they are forced to work 40 hours, they always earn the same value for life».

For SIAVA, such a dismissal only happened “before the 25th of April”.
