More than 2 public school students from the 1st cycle of the municipality of Faro will participate in sports, recreational and educational activities that the municipality will promote on June 1, Children's Day, at Jardim da Alameda and Municipal Library. The initiatives will take place from 9 am to 12 pm and from 14 pm to 17 pm.
The initiatives will be promoted by several entities, namely divisions of the Chamber of Faro, by the Live Science Center of the Algarve, by the Algar company, by the GNR School, by the Ria Formosa Natural Park, by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries, by the Hospital de Faro and by the schools themselves, among many others (see program below).
At the same time, a Social Market will take place, where works made by children from different institutions will be sold and exhibited. The Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Diminished Children (Project (Re)Create), the GATO – Projeto Crescer Mudando, the Association of Carriers of Trisomy 21, the Portuguese Red Cross and Casa de Santa Isabel – Home for Children and Youth are the institutions represented.
According to the Chamber of Faro, this last initiative “will continue the annual cycle of Social Fairs, with a view to promoting and disseminating responses, social resources and volunteering offers promoted locally, as well as fostering opportunities to raise revenue”.
"The educational community and visitors will thus have the opportunity to get to know these institutions better and students will be able to participate in activities promoted by the institutions participating in the social market," he concluded.
