Paxá Special Tinto 2009, by Paxá Wines, and Al-Ria Tinto 2014, by Casa Santos Lima, received the Gold Medal. The Paxá Reserva Tinto 2009, the Alvor Colheita Selectada Red 2013, from Quinta do Morgado da Torre and the Vida Nova Branco 2014, from Adega do Cantor, were awarded Silver, revealed the Algarve Wine Commission.

In all, 303 medals were awarded, in the Great Gold, Gold and Silver categories, chosen from the 1156 wines presented in the competition. These 303 wines were given 22 Grandes Ouro, 46 ​​Gold and 239 Silver.

The competition rules also include the Bronze category, but «due to the high grades obtained, no bronze medals were awarded». "Of the wines evaluated, 60 percent received a grade that allowed them to obtain a medal, although the Regulation limits the medals to be awarded to 25 percent", revealed the organization of the wine competition, in other words, there were some high quality wines remaining. out.

The competition jury, composed of 22 international experts from eight different countries, considered the Herdade do Esporão Verdelho 2014 wine as the best in the competition. The wine Ataíde Costa Martins Semedo Unip also stood out. Lda, as Best Sparkling Wine, and Bacalhôa Moscatel Roxo Superior, as Best Fortified Wine.

By region, the Douro and Alentejo were the big winners, with five Grande Ouro wines each, followed by the Dão region, which had three wines distinguished with Grande Ouro.
