Youth at EJA'13ECOS – Cooperative for Education, Cooperation and Development will go from the proposal to the official launch of the project «Algarve 2020 – A Young Contract», to take place tomorrow afternoon, April 23, at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, on the Campus of Gambelas, in Faro.

Thus, the first regional meeting of partners «Algarve 2020 – A Young Contract» will take place at 9:30 am on Thursday, followed by the project launch session, at 14:30 pm, in the faculty auditorium.

A ECOS Cooperative has been developing, in recent years, several reference projects at national and international level in promoting the political participation of young people in society.

With work based on three pillars – Training, Research and Consulting – it has been specializing in the development of partnership projects between different actors for the elaboration of public policies.

The's participatory-based projects of ECOS they have been revealing an added value for public and private entities and institutions that, in this way, develop their projects closer to their citizens, optimizing and sharing efforts and enhancing the impacts on the most diverse actors and partners", stress those responsible by the cooperative.

Round Trip_Cooperativa ECOSThe project «Algarve 2020 – A Young Contract» follows on from its predecessor «Algarve 2020 – a young proposal», through an extended partnership with the 16 municipalities of the Algarve, and also with AMAL, CCDR, IPDJ, UAlg, IEFP, DGEstE, among several other entities, organizations and associations.

This first project allowed the development, in the region, of 17 local youth consultations, two online consultations to association and youth leaders, the first meeting of Councilors for Youth, the 1st Algarve Youth Meeting – EJA, the 1st Youth Agenda with recommendations for the region, and especially the document A Contribution to a Youth Strategy in the Algarve.

This new chapter "Algarve2020 – A Young Contract" intends to use these recommendations and proposals and, with the support of 12 Thematic Working Groups, to launch a Regional Action Plan for Youth, which can be implemented using methodologies inspired by the Open Method of Coordination.

The project also includes three regional meetings with the various project partners, three new youth consultations at regional level, which include the dissemination of support programs for projects by and for young people, programs with employment opportunities, training, education, among others and the organization of a nationwide event that will take place in September this year.

«The various activities of the project include an educational and motivational dimension for the exercise of participation and active citizenship, suitable to reverse, in the medium term, the current trends of lack of involvement of young people in democratic processes, and to contribute to the participation of young people. young people in the region in solving the problems that currently affect them, such as high unemployment rates”, stresses the ECOS.
