On the 16th of May, the streets of downtown Olhão host the I Night Race GCO – Cidade de Olhão, an urban mountain biking event that takes place for the first time in the city and aims to test the skill and endurance of the participants for two hours in closed circuit.
«With the natural scenery of the Ria Formosa as a backdrop, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent landscape provided by the entire riverside area, pass through the markets and main gardens of the city, as well as discover some of the squares and squares of the Caminho das Legends, located in the most emblematic areas of downtown Olhão», says the municipality.
In addition to encouraging the practice of sports, this event aims to promote the downtown area, traditional commerce and the unique beauty of the architectural and natural heritage of the historic area of the Cubist city.
The race takes place on a closed circuit with a length of five kilometers and is played individually, that is, the participant who makes the most laps during the two hours is the winner.
The event includes prizes for the top three classified in the male and female categories, and there is also a prize, in each category, for the fastest lap of the course.
Registration is limited to 250 participants and can be made through the official website of the event or on the website of Cronosport, the partner company for the counting of times.
The I Night Race GCO – City of Olhão, which has the support of the Municipality of Olhão, is organized by the Ginásio Clube Olhanense (GCO).
