The mayor of Silves, in front of the news about the new Financial difficulties of Grupo Nogueira and the Alisuper supermarket chain, «took the initiative of contacting the owner of Grupo Nogueira, Mr. José Nogueira, with a view to ascertaining the veracity of the news broadcast by the media».
In a statement, Mayor Rosa Palma reveals that the head of Grupo Nogueira "called for calm and tranquility, recognizing that, despite some temporary and seasonal difficulties, the viability of the Alisuper supermarket chain is in no way questioned."
Despite the guarantees given by businessman José Nogueira, the Municipality of Silves said that it would remain “attentive to the situation, considering the need to defend the jobs that guarantee the survival of dozens of families in the municipality of Silves”.
