Albacete earthquakeThe earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale and whose epicenter was located about 60 kilometers west of Albacete, Spain, causing no damage or casualties, was recorded at 16:16 pm by the Seismic Network in Portugal and felt with maximum intensity II (scale Mercalli modified) in several locations in the Center and South of mainland Portugal, reported the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.

The epicenter was located in Ossa de Montiel, near Albacete, according to the National Geographic Institute of Spain.

Madrid community emergency services reported that the earthquake was felt throughout the region, but that there is no “evidence of material damage”.

The local emergency number (112) received more than 20 calls related to the earthquake in just a few minutes.

The General Directorate of Police has, however, published a message on the Twitter network to reassure citizens who have felt the earthquake.

“If your home or office shook, don't be alarmed: it wasn't just your building. A small earthquake affected the center of Spain, ”wrote the police.
