The municipal coordinator of JS/Loulé Hélder Semedo presented his resignation from the position, following "discussions that took place over the last few weeks within the Loulé secretariat" that "brought clear a deep and fundamental divergence on the strategy" of this structure council of socialist youth.
A resignation that intends to be one until now, since Hélder Semedo also announces that he will be a candidate in the municipal elections that will have, necessarily, to be scheduled, with the dissolution of the executive organ of the Socialist Youth of Loulé.
“The political crisis can only be resolved by the sovereign decision of the militants. Because with the usual determination, and with the same desire to serve my council, I will submit to that decision», announced Hélder Semedo in a letter to the militants, which was also addressed to the media.
The council coordinator's dismissal takes place one day after three of the five members of the JS Loulé secretariat have taken the same step, alleging "a strong disagreement" in relation to the political conduct of the Municipality" by the now resigning coordinator.
Hélder Semedo says that his decision was “very considered” and that it “saddens him”. “The internal opposition of JS Loulé removed from the Secretariat all the conditions to continue to lead the council. As a result, I presented to the president of the General Assembly of Militants, the resignation of the position of president of the council», he summed up.
«When the guidelines defined by the JS National Congress are supported by institutions representing students in the municipality and by young people in general, there are those who do everything to destroy this victory. When JS needs to have a strong voice in the municipality of Loulé, there are those who do everything to irreparably weaken the municipality», he accused.
Hélder Semedo even speaks of the “mere political calculation” of his internal opponents, “because only one reason explains this crisis, the hunger for power, the impatience for power”.
In the long letter, the JS/Loulé council coordinator to date argues that he has always strived for «bringing the structure closer to the young people of our great council, fighting for the generalization of sports, namely through the proposals we presented on streetworkout and recently on skate park in the city of Loulé, as well as in the defense of measures that help to minimize the effects of youth unemployment in the municipality of Loulé».
And he reiterated his support for the IKEA project, as a potential attenuator of youth unemployment, a position that will not have gone down well among the other members of JS/Loulé, since the PS has always shown itself against the advancement of this project, in the form it is currently in. foreseen.
“This political crisis has very serious consequences for the credibility that JS must have with institutions and with young people in the municipality. And that is why those who provoked it without any serious foundation, and without alternatives, are now responsible for its consequences», he adds.
