posterA conference on the theme “Mozarabe – Concept and cultural and social realities (7th-16th centuries)”, by medievalist researcher António Rei, is scheduled for February 00th, at XNUMX pm, at the House of Islamic and Mediterranean Culture in Silves.

The action is promoted by the Luso-Arab Studies Center (CELAS) and has the support of the Municipality of Silves.

According to CELAS, «the term “Mozarabic”, not always well understood or explained, involves and integrates different social and cultural realities and experiences, according to the forms of integration of Christian communities under Arab rule. And it is also the mark and reflection of a path that has not been uniform over more than half a millennium, whether in the relationship with the Islamic power or, later, with the power of Roman-Cluniac Christianity. The Mozarabic reality was of great importance for the construction of the Hispanic identity, and more specifically for the Portuguese identity».

More information about the conference can be collected from CELAS by calling 966 345 976 or by email [email protected].

Admission is free.
