The Casa dos Condes, Municipal Library of Alcoutim, will host, on January 23, at 21 pm, the fiftieth gathering “A Palavra Friday at Night”.
In a month dedicated to radio, the initiative will be marked by the presentation of the work “A Rádio em Portugal: always on the air, always with you”, by the publisher Colibri. Present at the event will be the author, Rogério Santos, and the editor, Fernando Mão de Ferro. The presentation will be in charge of professor and journalist Adelino Gomes.
From an early age, Rogério Santos considers radio a mystical element: “in the magic of childhood, I looked for the owner of the voice behind the telephony, but he wasn't there, which increased my fascination and curiosity”.
Her book portrays a specific period in the history of Portuguese radio (1941 – 1968), addressing issues such as radio genres, advertising, the role of censorship during the Estado Novo and women as an announcer and producer.
Organized by the Municipality of Alcoutim, the event has free entry and promises to satisfy doubts and curiosities about the history of telephony in Portuguese lands.
