Algarve Promotion Action in Seville_December 2014One in ten Sevillians chose the Algarve to spend their holidays in 2014, and the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) wants even more inhabitants of the capital of Andalusia to visit the region.

At a time when the Spanish market is growing, in the Algarve, RTA carried out an action to promote the Algarve at the Portuguese consulate of this Spanish city, on Tuesday, addressed to «opinion leaders and press in Andalusia».

This was another initiative carried out within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed by the Algarve and Andalusia to explore opportunities for tourism promotion between the two territories, a project that RTA considers "already yielding results", taking into account the figures.

In the action carried out this week, more than 100 people participated, including business associations, the press and official entities. «Designed to once again show the Spanish tourism offer to the Spanish, the initiative organized by RTA ended in the best possible way, with a show cooking of regional cuisine, by the hands of the chefs of the Tertúlia Algarvia restaurant, and with a tasting of Algarve wines », revealed the RTA, in a press release.

«The Spanish market has been growing rapidly in the Algarve, showing increases in guests (+26,5 percent) and overnight stays (+25,5 percent) between January and September this year, compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first nine months of 2014, the Algarve region was visited by more than 249 Spanish tourists, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE). And the Sevillians will have been responsible for about 120 thousand overnight stays», added the same entity.

«These numbers make us excited and we believe that they are already a reflection of the partnership established between the RTA and the Diputación Provincial de Sevilla», considered the president of the RTA Desidério Silva.

The head of Algarve Tourism also considered that "it is necessary to maintain the cooperation agreements between the Algarve and Andalusia, as they encourage tourist movements with an important economic impact for both".
