The reduction of employees of the District Social Security Center of Faro "It will further degrade the quality of services provided to the citizens of the Algarve, already harmed by the closure of proximity services and treasuries in various parts of the Algarve", defends António Eusébio, president of the PS/Algarve, in a statement.
«We are facing a very serious decision that calls into question public Social Security in the Algarve. In the last three years, we have witnessed a cut of 18 employees at the national level, which corresponds to XNUMX percent of its productive force," underlines the leader of the Algarve socialists, adding that "many are immediately replaced using occupational programs of the Employment and Vocational Training Institute”.
PS/Algarve considers that, in recent days, there has been an "unclassifiable attack by the Government against public Social Security, embodied in the sending for requalification of an indeterminate number of employees".
Considering that total personnel expenses represent only 1,1 percent of the Social Security Institute's budget, António Eusébio questions the alleged savings, “since the services provided so far have to be acquired under the regime of outsourcing, increasing the financial costs and jeopardizing the provision of quality services in a reasonable time'.
On the other hand, he stresses, «after the problems experienced over the last summer with the provision of services by the National Social Emergency Line, which were felt in an aggravated way in the Algarve, there is a lack of timely response to requests for inter-career mobility and categories of countless employees, who are forced to resort to unions to assert their rights».
