The Portuguese Soldier in IG WarA Faroese perspective on World War I, in the year that marks the centenary of the beginning of this conflict, will be given in the October edition of the initiative «Histórias à Solta nas Ruas de Faro», which will take place on Wednesday, at 18 pm, at the Municipal Library of the Algarve capital.

Sergeant Chief Luciano Chagas and Maria José Fraqueza lead the session «From Faro for the Trenches", where "stories related to or occurred in Faro», linked to this period of history.

The organization of this month's edition of «Stories à Solta in the Streets of Faro» is done in partnership with the Elos Clube de Faro and with the local nucleus of the League of Combatants.

At the same time that it animates this session, the Farense cultural structure challenges the population to «help enrich our history, perpetuating it for the new generations».

If you have photographs, documents or objects related to the First World War, collaborate with the Municipal Archive, giving them to enrich the exhibition “The Portuguese Soldier in the First World War” which will be held at the Municipal Library of Faro, organized Nucleus of Faro of the League of Combatants», he challenged.

“The photographs and documents will be digitized and the objects displayed inside showcases. All documents will be returned», adds the Municipal Library of Faro.
