orientation week_1The University of Algarve is organizing the “Orientation Week”, to welcome around 400 international students, who have chosen UAlg to undertake a period of studies or to complement their training, through mobility and exchange programs or protocols, during the 1st semester that is now beginning.

This week of integration, which runs from the 1st to the 5th of September, includes information sessions on Portuguese culture and the Mediterranean diet, a brief presentation by the Academic Association and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), visits by fields of UAlg and by the city of Faro, and boat trips along the Ria Formosa.

The program also includes a “Photo Paper”, organized by ESN, which will reward students with the best photographs.

In this 1st semester, UAlg welcomes students from 59 nationalities: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Paraguay, Brazil, Peru, Philippines, Mexico, Serbia, India, Germany, Pakistan, Guatemala, USA, Netherlands, Turkey, Latvia, France, Ecuador, China, Bangladesh, Spain, Ethiopia, Portugal, Cyprus, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Finland, Cameroon, Nepal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Malaysia, Rwanda, Egypt, Qatar, Norway, Argentina, Kenya, Fiji, Cape Verde, Angola, Colombia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, Italy, Denmark and the United Kingdom.

orientation week_2Because internationalization is seen as a strategic axis, UAlg is increasingly committed to the mobility of students, teachers and researchers. Examples of this are Erasmus+ (2014-2020) and the cooperation protocols, which provide the opportunity to study/work abroad, accessing new opportunities and diversifying their experiences.

It is a pioneer in offering and coordinating mobility projects in Portugal, in particular in the Erasmus Mundus program, which offers masters and doctoral degrees in partnership with a large number of higher education institutions.

The internationalization of UAlg is now visible on the streets of the city of Faro, which annually receives around 1000 students from more than 50 nationalities.

Located in southern Portugal, in a region with a Mediterranean climate sought after by thousands of tourists, UAlg is headquartered in Faro.

The privileged location next to the International Airport of Faro and the large number of new air routes connecting the main Portuguese cities (Porto and Lisbon), Europe and the world, as well as the excellent conditions that, together with the region, it has to offer, mean that, increasingly, the academy in the south of the country acquires a central and international status.
