The man who, at dawn on the 19th, attacked and raped a woman who lived in a house in the Quinta da Barra urbanization in Tavira, has already been detained by the authorities, announced today the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police.
The 51-year-old suspect has a criminal record for the commission of other crimes of the same nature, and has now been arrested for allegedly committing a crime of rape and robbery.
The man, around 6:00 am on the 19th, climbed a balcony to enter a house in that urbanization on the outskirts of Tavira, which he intended to rob. However, inside the house he came across the owner, a 61-year-old foreign lady who was alone, attacking and raping her.
He also forced the woman to hand him the ATM card and respective code, as well as the keys to the victim's car, a Volkswagen Polo with Portuguese license plate, with which he fled the scene, carrying stolen objects.
The detainee, according to the PJ, has now retired "to the prison, in compliance with a sentence that had previously been applied to him."
