«Collaborating with the Direction of the Museum of Portimão in the implementation, articulation and development of its activities» is the first line of the action program of the «Friends of the Museum of Portimão», which will be born today, at the first general assembly to establish the association.
The General Assembly, which is open to all who want to be founding members of the new association, is scheduled for 18 pm this Monday, September 29, in the auditorium of the Museum of Portimão.
Until yesterday, there were already more than a hundred people interested in being founding members of the Amigos do Museu de Portimão. But that number could still go up, because even those who cannot be present at today's magna meeting, but are interested in joining this group of citizens, can send, until the time of the meeting, their data, full name and telephone number , to [email protected].
The agenda of today's General Assembly involves the discussion and approval of the Statutes and Program Lines, culminating in the election of the first governing bodies.
Thus, according to the proposed list (which can be seen in detail below), surgeon Daniel Cartucho is appointed as chairman of the board, businessman and ex-deputy António Feu is appointed as chairman of the General Assembly and Joaquim Catarino as chairman of the Supervisory Board.
In a list of programmatic lines with nine points, the Friends of the Museum of Portimão also propose to «foster public knowledge of the Museum of Portimão, in its cultural and scientific aspects, with the presentation of activities that involve the general population, thus such as schools, day care centers, recreation centers, and others».
They also aim to “stimulate curiosity and arouse interest in the Museum in the public
younger people with recreational and educational activities (eg creating a competition linked to the museum with a "prize" appropriate to age levels)", as well as "proposing and promoting initiatives linked to local and regional reality (gastronomy, crafts, knowledge, arts) , heritage, and others) and moments of meeting and gatherings on themes of historical and cultural interest».
The Friends also propose to «promote the enrichment of the Portimão Museum's collection and its better equipping with technical means of work, namely museographic, scientific, didactic, archival, laboratory and bibliographic assets, in partnership with the Municipality of Portimão and the Museum», as well as «coordinating with the Museum actions to divulge merchandising products through the dynamization of a “Museum store”».
The other programmatic lines include «creation of exchange dynamics and group visits with other museums and places of relevant historical and heritage interest», «organization of Working Groups within the Museum's activities» and finally «relationship with everyone citizens and entities deemed relevant to the pursuit of its objectives, namely with the active and direct promotion of the museum through social networks and other means of dissemination».
