Festival dish - Pedro AlbertoThe Portimão Sardine Festival, which combines the most famous gastronomic delight in the city with a musical poster for all tastes, in a popular festival, livens up the riverside area of ​​Portimão between the 13th and 17th of August.

Between 19pm and 00am, entertainment will be constant in the axis of the riverside area that connects the Museum of Portimão to the space between bridges, with crafts, sweets, humor and various sounds, ranging from folklore to Portuguese music, always bearing in mind the good grilled sardines.

This year, one of the novelties will be the “festival dish”, consisting of a slice of bread, four sardines, boiled potatoes and salad in the Algarve style. During the five days of the event, the “festival dish” will be available for the special price of 6 euros at the following participating restaurants: À Ravessa, Meco, Ú Venâncio, Casa Balau, Forte e Feio, Zizá and Retiro do Peixe Assado.

For those who want to try a sardine on bread, there will be two points of sale next to the old auction, which will once again fill the riverside area of ​​Portimão with the most traditional and characteristic aroma of roasted sardines. with drink, for the value of 2,80 euros.

The sale of sardines on bread will be in charge of GEJUPCE – Gil Eanes Juventude Portimonense Clube and Boa Esperança Atlético Clube Portimonense. Taekwondo Club of Portimão, Recreational and Sports Club of Chão das Donas and Portimão Nucleus of the Portuguese Red Cross, involving the local associative movement in this eminently popular festival.

In a vast exhibition area, visitors can purchase handicrafts, sweets and snacks, while enjoying crafts from other times and local knowledge, which add to what is best produced at national level.

 

Music for all tastes

The OlivesOn a musical level, the main stage program, located next to the old auction, which has the official sponsorship of Continente and will present from 22 pm onwards a quality poster, free and for all, with performances by José Cid ( August 00th), Os Azeitonas (August 13th), Quim Roscas & Zeca Estacionâncio and Baile da Sardinha with local artist Rosa Martins (August 14th), Banda Pau d'Arara (August 15th) and the Algarve bands Sabrosas Funk and La Plante Mutante (August 16), the last of which will feature a retrospective of songs that characterized the various seasons of the Sardine Festival.

Also in the bandstand next to Casa Inglesa there will be musical entertainment every day of the event, between 19:00 pm and 21:30 pm, by the Parish Council of Portimão with the following program: August 13th – Fadista Teresa Viola; August 14 – Popular music with SOS; August 15th – Tribute to the Beatles by the Come Together group; August 16 – Project 70 – music from the 1970s; August 17th – Simple Song Band.
