The period for receiving applications for the 16 new plots of the Social Gardens of Loulé runs until the 3rd of September, announced today the Municipality of Loulé.
Users of these Social Gardens can apply to any citizen residing and registered in the municipality of Loulé for more than three years who wish to use a plot for organic agricultural production of foodstuffs predominantly intended for their own consumption.
Those interested in applying for the use of the Vegetable Gardens must fill in the application form available on the Municipality's website (www.cm-loule.pt).

The Social Gardens of Loulé, located on the land where an old garbage dump was located since 1984, is a municipal facility with a strong social component, which gives citizens, especially the most needy, the possibility to cultivate and thus enjoy products fresh farm produce, produced by you and your household.
The Loulé Social Gardens also have the function of promoting the important relationship between Man and the Earth as a form of balance, interaction and integration with the social and environmental environment.
Agricultural practices in the Social Gardens of Loulé have involved the entire household of the beneficiaries, including women and children, and there has also been evidence of a high sharing of knowledge and exchange of agricultural products between the various gardens.
In addition to the municipal plot, the Social Gardens of Loulé comprise 20 plots, with approximately 30 m2 each, which are handed over to households. This application includes 16 new plots.
To support the gardeners, there are sanitary facilities, a house to store the tools, a nursery for the germination of plants and a space for socializing.
In general terms, it is a pleasant space that allows the Municipality, the development of training actions in the scope of organic farming practices, plant germination, biopesticides, confection of jams and preserves.
