The official opening of the 19 Sardine Festival is scheduled for 00:13 pm this Wednesday, August 2014, next to the old Lotta de Portimão, which will be enhanced by the parade of the fanfare of the Bombeiros Voluntários de Portimão.
This is followed by the visit of the official entities to the various spaces in the riverside that are part of this year's edition of the event.
The most famous gastronomic delicacy in Portimão will be the common denominator of an eminently popular festival which until next Sunday, August 17th, will attract thousands of visitors of all ages to Portimão, between 19pm and 00am.
One of the new features of this year's edition will be the "festival dish", consisting of a slice of bread, four sardines, baked potato and salad in the Algarve for a special price of 6 euros, which can be consumed in the following participating restaurants: À Ravessa, Meco Ú Venâncio, Casa Balau, Forte e Feio, Zizá and Retiro do Peixe Roast.
For those who want to try a sardine on bread with a drink for the value of 2,80 euros, there will be two points of sale available next to the old auction, in charge of GEJUPCE – Gil Eanes Juventude Portimonense Clube and Boa Esperança Atlético Clube Portimonense. also a kiosk selling coffee and three others selling various beverages, in charge of the Youth Association “O Infante”, Taekwondo Club of Portimão, Recreational and Sports Club of Chão das Donas and Portimão Nucleus of the Portuguese Red Cross.
On a musical level, the main stage program, located next to the old auction, which has the official sponsorship of Continente and will present, from 22:00 onwards, José Cid (August 13), Os Azeitonas (August 14), Quim Roscas & Zeca Estacionâncio and Baile da Sardinha with local artist Rosa Martins (August 15), Banda Pau d'Arara (August 16) and the Algarve bands Sabrosas Funk and La Plante Mutante (August 17).
In the bandstand next to Casa Inglesa there will be musical entertainment between 19:00 and 21:30, in charge of the Parish Council of Portimão, with the following program: August 13 – Fado singer Teresa Viola; August 14 – Popular music with SOS; August 15th – Tribute to the Beatles by the Come Together group; August 16 – Project 70 – music from the 1970s; August 17th – Simple Song Band.
Folklore groups and accordion players will perform daily in the riverside area, without forgetting other traditional references, from handicrafts to sweets and humor, with an antique exhibition in Jardim Visconde Bívar, with crockery, silver, watches, silver, jewelry. , stamps and other items from the past, in a space that will also have the presence of a caricaturist.
The Sardine Festival 2014 is organized by the Municipality of Portimão/Portimão Urbis, which has the official sponsorship of Continente and the sponsorship of Delta Cafés and NosoloÁgua, being the official beverage supplier to Super Bock, which they associate as partners Turismo do Algarve, the Parish Council of Portimão and the newspaper Barlavento.
