The reduction in ticket prices to 3,5 euros, the return of the two stages, the mobile and permanent animation at various points of the fair, the doubling of the space in the Amar a Terra sector, the presence of more companies in the municipality and even the reinforcement of the artisans working live are some of the news at FATACIL, which opens in Lagoa this Friday, the 15th, and continues until the 24th of August.
Councilor Luís Encarnação, responsible for organizing this edition of the Lagoa Handicraft, Tourism, Agriculture, Trade and Industry Fair (FATACIL), informed the Sul Informação that the price of individual tickets dropped from 5 to 3,5 euros, while the family ticket (for four people) dropped from 15 to 12,5 euros.
"The goal is to bring the value closer to something that is more affordable for families, who are currently going through difficulties," he explained. "With this reduction, we want to attract more people to the fair and sell more tickets, thus guaranteeing greater revenue, despite the drop in ticket prices", said Luís Encarnação, stressing that "the number of free tickets offered will also be reduced".
New this year will also be the return of two stages: a main one, with a strong lineup with national names – António Zambujo (15th August), UHF (16th), Richie Campbell (17th), Bon Giovi -Tribute to Bon Jovi (18th). ), Deolinda (19), Lucky Duckies (20), Quim Barreiros (21), Ana Moura (22), Pedro Abrunhosa (23), Xutos & Kicks (24) -, another secondary, next to the food court, with local and regional artists, such as Beto Kalulu, Pedros Frias Band or Folesquestra.
The councilor also underlined the presence of "mobile animation". «There will always be things happening at the fair, in different places», with the Flinstones' car, the pirate's boat, folklore groups, and other animations.
The sector Amar a Terra, promoted by the Algarve Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries, will this year have almost twice as much space. In addition to the taverns with snacks from the Algarve land and sea, there will be exhibitors linked to fishing, canned food, wines and other agricultural products, medronho brandy and liqueurs.
The colloquiums, gatherings, competitions and tastings of products, namely mackerel and octopus, in collaboration with Docapesca or with the «Cavala» project of the CCMAR of the University of Algarve, should also be highlighted. «This sector shows what is best done in the rural world and in activities related to the sea, in the Algarve», stressed Luís Encarnação.
Next to it, also linked to the rural world, is the equestrian sector, which has been growing and becoming «an anchor sector in FATACIL». This year, a tribute will be paid to a Portuguese Olympic rider, while the exhibitions of equestrian arts and the Algarve Lusitano show will continue.
Another novelty in this, which is the 35th edition of the largest fair in the South of the Tagus, is the reinforcement of the presence of companies from the municipality of Lagoa itself. «We will have, for example, the presence for the first time of three hotel groups that have units in our municipality. We are very happy with this and we hope that, next year, there will be even more. This presence is a sign of openness for more hoteliers in the municipality to come and exhibit at FATACIL, where this year we expect 50 to 180 thousand visitors», said the person responsible for the organization.
But it's not just tourism that Lagoon companies make a living: «we will have around two dozen companies at the fair, which did not happen in the past. There is now a significant increase in exhibitors from Lagos from the sectors of commerce, industry, support to agriculture, wines. In this last sector will be our three main producers, Quinta dos Vales, Adega Única and the brand new Monte dos Salicos».
A traditionally strong area at FATACIL is Craft, which, in recent years, has been losing strength and genuineness. This year, however, «we tried to regain the strength of handicraft, namely by granting a 10% discount to all artisans, to attract them. As for the first ten entries for artisans who commit to work live during the ten days of the fair, we exempt them from any payment. As the number of artisans who signed up for this scheme far exceeded that number, we expanded it to almost everyone. We believe that, for those who visit the fair, it is very different to see how the item you are going to buy is made».
The official inauguration of FATACIL is scheduled for 19:05 on Friday, August 15, with the presence of Assunção Cristas, Minister of Agriculture and the Sea. between the Câmara de Lagoa and the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve, which will take place in the main hall in Paços do Concelho.
