Os Geeks from the Algarve come back to life Faro with the «Manga and Comic Event of the Algarve», an initiative that goes beyond these styles de graphic animation, celebrates all the culture associated with them, which includes board and card games, pictures and illustrations and even the personification of some of the most famous characters in the universe pop/geek.
The event of the Algarve's Association of Geeks, which is «innovative, refreshing and fun for kids and adults», will take place on the 23rd and 24th of August, in the delegation of Faro of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ). This is the biggest initiative of its kind in the south of the country
This year, the Cosplay, which consists of dressing up and putting on makeup to look as similar as possible to a character in a book or movie, is once again highlighted, «with several Cosplayers recognized at national and international level'. In focus will still be the worlds Lego, Transformers and there will be «Geek Speed Dating», among others.
In terms of Workshops, the organization highlights those of «Cosplay, Special Boddy Effects, Character Concept & Design, Felt Food, Creative Writing, Manga, Gunpla, Japanese, Modeling, Origami, Props, RPG and Sweet Deco».
In addition to workshops, the third edition of the event also features discussion panels. In 2014, the themes to be discussed are Anime, Western Animation, Mecha, “Sailor Moon – The Moon Navigator”, “Star Wars – Star Wars” and the saga “Tales Of”».
Visitors will also be able to have fun, in video game tournaments that will be promoted and enjoying board and card games (Magic, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh). The program also includes exhibitions of figures, illustrations and cosplay costumes.
Taking advantage of the proximity of its main annual event, the Associação Nucleo de Geeks do Algarve has sought to make itself known to the Algarve. Guia FNAC store was chosen to host two presentation events of the association, on the 2nd and 16th of August.
Next weekend, there is another opportunity to meet the Algarve's Geeks, who from 16:16 on the XNUMXth will make a small public presentation. «Visitors will be able to count on lots of entertainment, exhibitions of the most varied themes (anime, star wars, etc), demonstrations of Magic the Gathering, among other Trading Card Games, Cosplay show and many other activities», promises the association.
The «Manga and Comic Event of the Algarve» is organized by the Associação Núcleo de Geeks do Algarve, with the support of the IPDJ, Municipality of Faro, PT Merch, Fnac, Nintendo, Kingpin Books, BD House, Sailor Moon Portugal, Clone TV and Cosplayer.
