astronomy0The Alto da Arroteia Viewpoint, in São Brás de Alportel will host this evening, August 22, another fun Night Watch, an initiative promoted by the Live Science Center of the Algarve, within the scope of the “Ciência Viva no Verão” Program ”.

Starting at 21 pm, this free Night Watch challenges you to get to know the secrets of the constellations up close, in the company of technicians from the Centro de Ciência Viva do Algarve.

At the top of one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the city of São Brasense and in full contact with nature, participants can learn the basics of astronomy, know the names of planets, stars, constellations, among other stars.

This activity integrates two components, theoretical and practical, the first dedicated to concepts and basic notions and the second to observation. The North Star is the queen of the night, used as a reference point to locate and identify constellations, this star plays a fundamental role in the history of navigation, among other applications.

The night promises to unveil many other curiosities, such as the relationship between the color of a star, visible to the naked eye, and its temperature and age, or the formation of craters on the moon.
