Vitor Maçãs is the new coach of Portimonense. The technical team of the Algarve emblem was presented this Saturday, at the Municipal de Portimão, in a ceremony that also served to present the new equipment of the alvi-negra team.
The 50-year-old head coach is joined by coaches Pedro Alves da Silva and Ivo Garcia as assistants, José Augusto as physical trainer and Pedro Manuel da Silva as goalkeeper coach.
Vitor Maçãs returns to Portimonense, a club where he had already worked, in 2006, as assistant coach, after a year of inactivity. In the previous season, he coached Mirandela. From now on, he occupies what he considers “a dream chair”.
The president of Portimonense Fernando Rocha considered, during the presentation of the new technical team, that it will be possible to «build a competitive team» and points to a better classification than last year, when the Portimão club was until to the final stretch of the championship in the fight for promotion.
In recent days, the Portimonense squad for 2014/15 has become more defined. Although players have not yet been signed, the renewals of four players were guaranteed, namely Fabrício, Fernandinho, Carlos Henrique and Luís Zambujo. Even so, it was guaranteed by the direction and that reinforcements will emerge, despite the warning that there will be financial restraint and rigor.
In terms of outputs, Rui Correia's is confirmed, as well as Mazola's dismissal.
