The municipalities of Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, Alcoutim (district of Faro) and Barrancos (Beja) are currently at very high risk of fire, the second most serious, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The IPMA also placed several councils in the districts of Faro, Beja, Évora, Setúbal, Portalegre, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Coimbra, Viseu, Guarda, Bragança, Vila Real and Viana do Castelo under high risk of fire, on a scale of five.
