Juniors Rodrigo Serafin (BTT Loulé/BPI) and Ana Silvestre (Atlantic Service/Clube Xelb) are two of the eight riders that make up the National/Liberty Seguros de BTT team, which competes, between Thursday and Sunday, in the European Championship Olympic cross country (XCO) and relay (team relay), to be held in St. Wendel, Germany.

In all, national MTB selector Pedro Vigário has called up eight runners for this international commitment, which is one of the main objectives of this season for the National Team.

In addition to the two juniors from the Algarve, elite runners David Rosa (Liberty Seguros/Movefree), Mário Costa (ASC/Focus Team) and Joana Barbosa (BMC/Sram/Póvoa de Varzim), and under-23 Gonçalo Amado were also called up. (Popular Radio), José Dias (Patocycles/Coluer/CP Retorta) and Joana Monteiro (ASC/Focus Team).

The first competition in which the Portuguese will race is the relay race, next Thursday, at 14:00. In this race, each team has four elements, each of them having to complete one lap of the course. The team must have a female, an elite, an under-23 and a junior.

On Saturday, the XCO races begin. Women's juniors enter the track at 8:00 am, juniors compete at 10:30 am, U-23 at 13:00 pm and U-23 at 16:00 pm.

On Sunday it's the turn of the elite, women at 9:30 am and men at 12:30 pm. Timetables are displayed according to the time in Mainland Portugal.

“We have as reference the results achieved in the previous edition of the European Championship and we left with the ambition to surpass them”, says Pedro Vigário. David Rosa was 24th in the elite race in 2013.
