Project Tasa, in collaboration with the Municipal Museum of Loulé, promotes, on June 21st and 28th, the Initiation Course to the Art of Correeiro, as part of the set of initiation courses to traditional arts that run until the end of the year, in Loule.

“A Arte nas Mãos” runs through each art and craft from its origin, to its uses, to the raw material, to the tools, to the techniques and, of course, to the practice.

This initiative takes place at the Municipal Museum of Loulé, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 18:00 pm, coordinated by Fernando Zuñiga.

The course will consist of an introduction to the history and evolution of leather, an approach to the materials and techniques used, drawing and calculating a piece, working the sheepskin, dyeing, sewing and finishing a simple piece.

In this 14-hour session, the intention is to make an incursion into the Loulé tradition and culture of this art and craft.

Interested parties may register, up to four working days before the start of the course, at [email protected], by calling 289 416 198 or in person at Rua de Portugal, n.º 35, B, Loulé.

The registration fee is 45 euros.

Loulé was once known for its workshops and leather shops, which produced all kinds of equipment for horses, mules and agricultural implements, in leather and leather, often using techniques with many generations, inherited from the Moors.
