The Vila Real de Santo António International Medical Centre, a joint project between the Hospital Particular do Algarve group and the VRSA City Council, which also includes Cuban health professionals, will officially open on May 13, a municipal holiday.
Used to being a national and international reference for the training of teams and athletes, including certification by the Olympic Preparation Center and the International Athletics Federation, this sports complex with an area of more than 2200 square meters now has a «set of resources diagnosis and intervention, which will increase its projection but above all will give birth to its recognition as a center of excellence in general and sport rehabilitation care».
The medical center is located on the nave of the VRSA Sports Complex.
A source from the Hospital Particular do Algarve group said that the project to develop the Vila Real de Santo António International Medical Center will be carried out "in stages", and that, "for now, a permanent medical consultation will be made available, as well as various medical specialties and complementary means of diagnosis (RX, clinical analyses, cardiac exams, ultrasounds) with agreements with subsystems and insurance companies, as well as dentistry and dental radiology».
An operating room and a surgical recovery area will then join these services.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine will be a «strong and differentiated bet» of this undertaking, which will have a multi-professional team of Portuguese and Cuban doctors and therapists, «with extensive national and international experience, available to offer assessment strategies and innovative and effective intervention'.
