Two students from the University of Algarve won Silver Medals at the National University Table Tennis Championships – Individual, which took place in Évora, on May 15th. Andreia Almeida and Celso Madeira were the outstanding members of the team of six elements that the Academic Association of the University of Algarve led to the competition.

Andreia Almeida competed in the final and lost to No. 1 in the National University ranking, in this modality, Ana Torres.

Before, the athlete from the Algarve, with no place in the defined ranking, had to fight to reach the last game, as she had lost the first game, which required an additional effort to recover.

At the men's level, Celso Madeira also won the Silver Medal, in a competition that brought together 35 university athletes.

AAUAlg highlighted the fact that the six athletes who were in Évora headed to the European University Championships, in July of this year, in Rotterdam, «presence conquered in representation of the Algarve academy in the National University Championships of Table Tennis – teams».
