Portimonense lost this Saturday by three to zero in Madeira, against the local União. A result that further distanced him from the leader Moreirense, who has already guaranteed his promotion to the XNUMXst League. Despite the defeat, Portimonense did not compromise the chances of moving up to the top level of Portuguese football, as Desportivo das Aves and Penafiel also lost points.

Portimonense lost a sovereign opportunity to take the lead, in a penalty scored against the home team in the 42nd minute, but Ricardo Pessoa allowed Trigueira to defend.

The same did not happen when the referee scored another penalty, this time against Portimonense. Hugo Morais did not forgive and put the Madeirans to win, in the 50th minute.

Losing, the Algarvians reacted and had several opportunities to tie, but União ended up increasing the lead to two-86, in the 89th minute, by Adilson, who scored again in the XNUMXth minute, sealing the final result.

Portimonense continues in seventh, with 61 points, one point behind Desportivo das Aves (6th), which also lost today, and eight behind Penafiel (3rd, 69 points), the second in the “list” of the promotion. Moreirense continues to lead, with 72 points, two more than Porto B.

This year, due to Boavista's reinsertion in the I Liga, there will be a playoff between the third placed in Liga 2 (the B teams do not count for this list) and the penultimate in the I Liga. To have this second opportunity, Portimonense will have to overtake Aves, in the three remaining rounds.
