Creating a railway line around the Algarve capital, allowing the current railway line to be removed from the Ria front, «will transform Faro in one of the most vibrant cities in the country", defended the Civic Alliance "Save Faro, with the Heart” (CFC-SF), during the Solemn Session for the Commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the 25th of April, in that municipality.

The removal of the downtown railway line from the city and the liberation of the “great extension of the riverside zone” that it occupies has been one of the struggles of the movement that supported José Vitorino's candidacy for the Chamber of Faro

For the CFC-SF, «the blame for the deep evils and despair that the Portuguese are confronted with» is not the 25th of April, but «the misuse that many holders of public office have made of it, especially the suffocating central power and controlled by powerful interests».

He also considered that "it is imperative to make public life credible, with the golden rules being the transparency and legality of acts, accompanied by honesty in the performance of positions, making it clear to citizens that their agents serve the community rather than personal interests, such as it is often known”.

Among the positive aspects of the Carnation Revolution, the «Save Faro» highlighted «as the most important of all achievements for Faro/Algarve the University of Algarve, which had always been denied and in which even after the 25th the central power did everything to stop its approval in the Assembly of the Republic».
