The play «Autos da Revolution», inspired by texts by António Lobo Antunes, will be in Faro from April 25th until May 11th. After having its debut in Évora, on March 27, World Theater Day, the co-production of ACTA – The Algarve Theater Company and Cendrev – Évora Dramatic Center goes down to Faro on the day of the Carnation Revolution, to be performed at the Teatro Lethes.

It is, moreover, the 25th of April that inspires the play, staged by Pierre-Etienne Heymann. «Since the 80s, António Lobo Antunes, when turning his gaze to the past, has refused to contribute to the construction of a golden legend of the 25th of April. The characters he creates in the novels that put the Revolution in the background are not heroes, but ordinary people, full of contradictions, who lead an anonymous life on the margins of historical events», describes Cendrev.

On stage, seven characters intersect: a worker carrying change, a banker, the wife of a counterrevolutionary, a peasant woman exploited on a farm, the farm owner's governess, a political activist who was arrested and a charitable bourgeois.

«Each one remembers his 25th of April and tells what happened to it. From this confrontation, inevitably, questions arise with the passage of time: for whom was the Revolution made? What Revolution was it about?”, continues the cultural structure of Eborense.

On stage, the “Algarvian” actors Bruno Martins, Mário Spencer and Tânia da Silva come together, as well as Jorge Baião, Maria Marrafa and Rosário Gonzaga.
